Shotokan Tiger Nation

Karate Lessons for Children

Kid's Karate Class

It’s Never Too Early to Start Learning Karate

The Shotokan Tiger Nation is an initiative to encourage children to get active and learn life skills through training in the art of Shotokan Karate.

We function as a sub-section of Chelmsford Shotokan Karate Club and are affiliated with the Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB).

Our classes are aimed at children aged 4-10 and are an introduction to the exciting martial art of Karate in a safe, controlled environment.

Our classes are designed to help kids grow alongside their training, with each new belt pushing and challenge them to be their best self. Many of our students who started in our Tiger's classes move on to train harder classes but still come to help teach our Tigers, some of them even becoming Qualified Young Leader Helpers in preparation to get their official Instructor's Qualifications.

Karate is a complementary after-school activity, and many of our Tigers have grown up to find that skills such as self-motivation, concentration, and dedication have helped their school-life, achieving highly in their GCSEs and A-Levels.

Chelmsford Shotokan Karate Club

The Shotokan Tiger Nation is a sub-section of Chelmsford Shotokan Karate Club. Our focus is on the children, our 'Tigers'.

However, Chelmsford Karate Club is much larger and has students of all ages and abilities, from Adult-Only classes to Family Classes.

If you would like to learn more about the Club as a whole, rather than a focus on only our Tigers, please feel free to visit the main website:

Outside of the Dojo...

There are many different areas of Karate outside of our regular classes. From special courses to competing, to summer picnics! We encourage our Tiger's to get involved and challenge themselves to try something new.

anti-bullYing courses

On this course you will learn some personal safety techniques and strategies to live by and to complement your Karate training - although no previous experience in Karate is necessary.

Competitions are a great experience for our younger members, from competing locally, regionally, or even nationally!

Throughout the year we hold a variety of Social Events, which are great opportunities to meet new friends and have fun!

kugb courses

As a part of the Karate Union of Great Britain (KUGB) we have access to training courses around the country!

This is a great way to introduce yourself to the wider Karate community.
